Desert Dunes

You’re contentedly sitting on the crest of a small hill of sand gazing out across the vast desert dunes. Wind currents swirl around you, lifting your hair and caressing your skin. Although the breeze is warm you shiver at its touch. Sand swirls around you, its brushing against your flesh is harsh but you pay it no mind. You've dealt with worse.

The atmosphere of the desert is unique; you find that the movement of the air, the sights and sounds are calming. It is an odd feeling, this sense of tranquility. It feels foreign. You haven't felt like this for ages. When was the last time you just sat back and relaxed?

Although the feeling is odd you welcome it; you welcome the respite. Especially now. There always seems to be something on your mind, something weighing you down, but not at the moment. You know that you still have worries, still have concerns, but you just can't seem to focus on them. Your mind drifts away from such thoughts, they are not important… Not today, not now.

You breathe in deep, just basking in the warmth of the blazing sun that is perched so high above. For once you feel at peace.

You could not feel any better than you do now. Unless…

You close your eyes and imagine that one thing that would make this moment perfect. You envision it in your mind's eye, whether it's a person, pet or object, it is one thing you know well. Although it seems impossible you envision it in front of you, within reach. Somehow already knowing what you will see you open your eyes.

Perfect.
