About Me
Who Am I?
I am Benjamin Randall and I am a graduate of the New Media Production and Design course at SAIT Polytechnic in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I am a multimedia artist and developer, as well as an author on the side. When I'm not working on one project or another I am generally trying to keep up with my growing “to read list,” running, playing video games, watching TV or writing short stories.
What do I do? (in a nutshell)
I consider myself a generalist multimedia developer and freelancer. Therefore I take on jobs that have to do with web development, 3d development, photography, graphic design and writing jobs of either the creative or technical variety.
Why do I do what I do?
I'm a developer and I like building things. It doesn't matter the medium, it's just what I like to do. I could be: creating worlds through my writing, building 3D models or scenes to be rendered or printed, capturing still landscapes and creatures, or building websites to be proud of.
I enjoy the work involved in all of them.
Where do I want to be?
Someday I'd like to be teaching at a local college (either part-time or full-time depending on how things go); giving back to the community by passing on what I have learned and inspiring others to reach for the stars and push themselves.
If not teaching I'm hoping to be part of an outstanding team in a development position that I love; probably either 3D or web.
How long have I been doing this?
I've been working as a graphic designer and layout artist since 2011 and a multimedia developer since my graduation from SAIT in 2013. I have been working as a freelance multimedia developer since 2015.
As for writing, I have been a creative writer for a long time; I started to get more serious with it in high school. Technical writing is a newer concept to me but I've been taking on technical writing projects since 2015.
Where can you find me?
I can be found in many different places. I can be found online and have storefronts on several different sites. Some sites include:
